Ansuz Mainz Power Cable
In Nordic mythology, the Ansuz rune is associated with the god Odin and represents “communication through the god of wind.” It embodies wisdom, clarity, and truth, which align with our philosophy of designing audio cables that reduce negative effects until they are either eliminated or no longer audible.
All materials in an audio system resonate and influence the sound, including cables. They are susceptible to interference from airborne noise, electrical disturbances, and mechanical instability, all of which can degrade performance.
While some challenges cannot be fully eliminated, we have developed advanced technologies to counteract these issues and elevate sound quality.
Exploring materials and their properties is essential in our pursuit of better performance. This process involves thousands of trials, many of which do not succeed, but the effort is always worthwhile. The third-generation Ansuz cables demonstrate that with expertise, experience, and persistence, exceptional audio performance is achievable.
Ansuz Generation 3 Cables
One of the most significant changes we have made is the complete removal of aluminum from our cables. While aluminum is widely used due to its affordability and ease of manufacturing, it is not ideal for audio applications. Its brittle and artificial tonal qualities, along with the hysteresis effects it introduces, make it unsuitable for high-fidelity sound. This is likely why musical instruments are rarely, if ever, made from aluminum.
Eliminating one of the most commonly used materials in the audio industry was a bold decision, but necessary in our pursuit of uncompromised sound quality. Cables play a crucial role in resonance control, yet they are often underestimated. Like other audio components, they are affected by micro-vibrations. Aluminum amplifies these oscillations, leading to increased noise. Rather than trying to counteract these unwanted effects later, we chose to eliminate the problem at its source by using more acoustically suitable materials.
Replacing Aluminum
To enhance performance, Ansuz replaced all aluminum connector housings with superior materials, each carefully selected for different product tiers:
- Stainless Steel – Used in entry-level models (X3 and X-TC3).
- Copper – Applied in mid-tier models (A3, C3, and D3).
- Titanium – Integrated into top-tier series (D-TC3, D-TC Supreme, and D-TC Gold Signature).
This transition has significantly improved the overall sound quality, marking a major advancement in the third generation of Ansuz cables. Instead of merely addressing the symptoms, Ansuz eliminated the root cause of resonance issues.
