Luxman L-509Z is the Z-series flagship integrated built around a “separates in one chassis” architecture. It deploys independent LIFES 1.0 gain blocks for pre and power sections, the LECUA-EX electronic volume control, disciplined grounding, and short, symmetrical signal paths. Architecture and Circuit Design

Dual-section LIFES implementation

Preamp and power amp sections each use Luxman’s Integrated Feedback Engine System 1.0, focusing feedback where it is most effective to maintain bandwidth and phase accuracy while remaining stable into real loudspeaker loads.

LECUA-EX level control

LECUA-EX is a precision, electronically switched resistor ladder that preserves channel tracking at low levels and avoids the wear and variability of mechanical tracks. Its integration enables accurate balance trim and repeatable level steps.

Output stage and power supply

A three-stage Darlington, triple-parallel push-pull output section is supported by a high-capacity EI-core transformer and eight large filter capacitors. The layout minimizes loop area and keeps AC fields away from small-signal paths to reduce hum and modulation noise.

Inputs and signal management

Balanced XLR and multiple line-level RCA inputs accommodate a range of sources. Line Straight bypasses tone and balance networks when the most direct path is desired, while the standard path provides precise bass/treble correction and loudness compensation for low-level listening.

Meter illumination is even and legible; the aluminum remote handles input selection and volume. Front-panel controls have firm, repeatable detents. Status is clear at a glance, and core functions are available without menus.

With its higher current delivery and damping, the L-509Z pairs well with stand-mounts and demanding floorstanders. It mates cleanly with neutral to slightly warm sources. The internal MM/MC stage supports a wide range of cartridges, simplifying turntable setup. For very large rooms or unusually low-sensitivity speakers, PRE OUT enables external amplification while retaining the same control surface.
