Michell Orbe SE Turntable

The Michell Orbe SE is a compact “small footprint flagship” that delivers the same reference-quality performance as the full-size Orbe in a sleeker, more space-efficient package.

Chassis and Suspension

The Orbe SE incorporates two layers of isolation. The primary plinth rests on low-contact solid aluminum feet to reduce vibration transmission. A three-point spring suspension supports a weighted pendulum-style secondary acrylic sub-chassis, which provides rigidity and acts as a resonance sink.

Platter and Bearing

The Orbe SE uses a 60 mm thick acrylic platter chosen for its damping properties and impedance match with vinyl, delivering neutral tonal character and exceptional speed stability. The inverted main bearing features an Archimedean screw that pumps oil from its base to the thrust ball, ensuring full lubrication during playback and minimizing friction and vibration.

Motor and Electronics

The DC motor in the Orbe SE is housed in a free-standing ~3 kg metal unit separate from the turntable. It connects via a precision belt, isolating motor noise and vibration. Speed control is managed by the sophisticated Orbe Controller power supply, featuring a toroidal transformer, Never Connected servo loop, and continuous monitoring to maintain rock-solid RPM accuracy.

Accessories

A screw-down record clamp is included to flatten warped vinyl and further reduce resonances. A clear acrylic dust cover is provided and easily removable.
