The Unison Research S6 Black Edition is a refined, high-performance version of the brand’s acclaimed integrated amplifier. The Black Edition features a striking cosmetic upgrade with a piano black wood front panel, gunmetal finish, and updated graphics. Internally, the Black Edition features substantial upgrades for improved sonic performance. Power output has increased to 40 watts per channel, up from 35W, thanks to a redesigned circuit that eliminates the cathode capacitor and resistor, improving low-frequency extension and phase accuracy.

The amplifier employs dual mono architecture and uses matched Gold Lion ECC83 and KT77 tubes, operating in pure Class A ultralinear configuration. The power supply has been upgraded with polypropylene capacitors and decoupled anodic voltages, providing better dynamics and transient response. The input stage benefits from advanced grounding paths and micro relays to preserve channel separation and reduce noise.

The S6 Black Edition includes four analog inputs and a built-in DAC with USB, SPDIF, and Toslink connections. The USB input supports PCM up to 384kHz and DSD up to 256x. A subwoofer output is included and remains unfiltered to retain the amplifier’s tonal character. This special edition is a comprehensive evolution of the original S6, engineered to meet the needs of demanding audiophiles with greater power, connectivity, and sonic purity.
